Summary
The Greenworks’ 14 inch corded lawn mower is suitable for small to medium-sized lawns. The mower has a 9-amp electric motor and has the ability to collect, mulch and rear discharge the cuttings. There are 5 cutting heights on this Greenworks 14 inch from 5/8 inch to 2 5/8 inch and it includes safety features to prevent accidental starting. This is a light-weight model at just 33.3 lbs that has a respectable 10-gallon collection bag and the machine will fold down into a small and compact package for easy storage.
Key Features
- Rating: 9.5/10
- 9 Amp Motor
- Good Sized 14 inch Deck
- Number of Cutting Heights: 5 (5/8 inch to 2 5/8 inch)
- Weight: 33.3 Pounds
This model has a 14 inch deck made from moulded plastic, so it has the advantage of being lightweight and flexible. It will not dent as a metal deck would, but plastic will not take to rough treatment.
There are grass combs on the deck, behind the front wheels to bring in the grass from the sides and in under to the blade, this helps to ensure a closer cut to the edge.
Power
A 9 Amp motor powers the blade, and is perfectly adequate for a electric push mower of this size. The motor works out to be 1000 watts, which is enough to get through thick grass, though it may struggle a little with wetter grass. As with any electric corded mower, if the grass has been left to grow too long, start on a higher height setting and work your way down.
This mower is perfect for lawns that are well-cared-for and well-trimmed, not a forest of grass. Those that prefer to leave the mowing as a monthly chore during the growing season, should look for a mower with more power.
Blade
The deck is 14 inches, and is ideally suited to smaller yards. Greenworks use lifting steel blades in their machines, and they have a good reputation for being sharp and long-lasting. These blades are consumables and will need replacing. Replacement blades are inexpensive and easy to find and you always have the option of sharpening them.
Height Adjustment
There is a single lever at the front-left wheel of the mower to control the height of the deck from the grass. This ratchet-style lever controls the height of all wheels at the same time with 5 positions. The height ranges from 5/8 inches all the way up to a modest 2 5/8 inches.
Normally I’m not a fan of height levers mounted at the front of the machine. This normally makes them more difficult to adjust, but I must say that that’s not the case with this Greenworks 14 inch MO09B01. The adjustment is easy and effectively adjusts all 4 wheels with no problems.
Roller (Stripes)
This machine does not have a roller or striper.
Grass Box
The operator can choose to collect the grass, mulch it or rear discharge. This mower comes with a 10-gallon mesh clippings bag with an internal steel frame to support the shape. The grass box sits in the back of the mower under a protective flap.
This means that the bag is lightweight, and it will collapse down to make it easier to store. Good airflow through the mesh helps to draw in more grass and increases lift at the blade. The mesh bag is also useful as you will clearly see if the bag is getting full.
As with all cloth collection bags, you will need to be a little more careful how you treat them, they are prone to damage unlike there solid counterparts.
Mulching
A great feature about this mower is the option to mulch the grass cuttings. There are so many benefits of mulching including, saving time, environmentally friendly and a healthier looking lawn. A mulching plug comes supplied with the Greenworks 14-Inch 9 Amp Corded Electric Lawn Mower MO09B01.

Safety Features
To start the machine, the operator needs to depress a button under the throttle, which allows the throttle to move. On releasing the throttle, the safety button needs pressing again to unlock the system. This will need two hands, so the user will have to stay behind the machine.
There is no operator bar on this machine. Instead, there is a single lever on the right-hand side of the bar that controls the power to the motor. This lever is on the opposite side to the height control lever, so it would be natural to let go of the machine to control the height.
Design and Build Quality
Quick-release levers loosen the handlebar, which folds in two. The clippings bag will also fold up small. And at 33 pounds, it is going to be possible for most people to lift this machine up and place it on a shelf for storage or laid in their garage.
Another advantage is no complicated routine for preparing a corded mower for storage. And when you need it again after several months on a shelf, it will be ready to go. The wheels are hollow plastic, which should be fine considering the size of the lawn you would be cutting with this machine.
Performance
The motor and blade are fine for lighter work, and it will cut through the occasional dense area of grass. The blades are sharp, and as long as they have momentum, they will make a decent job of a small yard. And a 9-amp motor is economical to run, and it is well within the loading of a household wall socket.

Pros and Cons
Should You Buy This Model?

The motor is powerful enough for a small yard, and that is the audience this mower caters for. A 9 amp motor is also going to be a lot quieter, and when it comes to motors, you get what you need.
