Summary

When I look at gas lawn mowers, I want to see a combination of power and efficiency and the Craftsman M105 demonstrates these in equal measures. Beyond that, Craftsman is an incredibly reputable brand that is renowned for producing high quality tools that are extremely reliable. When you couple this with the relatively wallet-friendly price, it’s not difficult to see you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck.
If you’re in the market for a gas powered mower that has enough features for your everyday needs and is easy to use, then I’d recommend this Craftsman M105. You can choose whether or not to purchase it with a bagger. You’ll also get things like a good range of cutting heights, mulching, and a lengthy warranty. I’d like to help you get better acquainted with this machine, so let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer.
Key Features:
- 21 inch cutting width
- 6 cutting heights
- Push mower
- Lightweight
- 3 in 1 mowing modes (option to not include bagger)
- Zag tread tires
- 140cc engine
Power System/Engine

If you want a mower with a reliable engine that isn’t going to break the bank, then the Craftsman M105 gas powered lawn mower is well worth considering. OK, it isn’t as powerful as some other gas lawn mowers out there with its 140cc engine, but it certainly delivers more than enough to meet your day to day mowing needs and then some.
The engine features recoil start and an auto choke which makes it much easier to get going. This is something that Craftsman is well known for and many people opt for their gas mowers purely for their easy start. What’s more, the brand is known for producing reliable engines that, when well looked after, will stand the test of time.

Performance
The Craftsman M105 is a push lawn mower. Now, for smaller yards, this is OK but if you’re working on a larger area, it might become a little tiresome. Unless you’ve got a lot of strength and stamina, that is.
But, the good news is that this machine is superbly lightweight at just 18.8lbs, which is very unusual for gas lawn mowers, but it does make it easier to move around.
It’ll give you a very efficient performance and a thorough cut. What I really liked about this mower was how adept it is at getting through dense grass and even weeds. It makes light work of everything, so you won’t need to spend as much time doing other tasks like trimming and weeding.
Blade and Deck

One of the things that Craftsman is synonymous with, is its quality. This means the cutting deck is super durable and well made. At 21 inches, the lawn mower is suitable for yards measuring up to a quarter of an acre.
The high quality blade is strong and powerful and won’t easily get tangled with longer grass and weeds, further backing up the point I made earlier about its impressive performance.
Handles
One of the biggest gripes for homeowners is that their lawn mower handle is too high or too low. That isn’t going to be a problem when using the Craftsman M105 as it features a fully adjustable handle that can be moved to a height that suits you. No more feeling as though you’re going to do your back in while tending to your yard duties. The only thing missing is a nice padded grip, which would make the handle more comfortable to use, but that really is a minor issue.
Height Adjustment

Having a selection of cutting heights is a must on any lawn mower, especially if you live in a climate where the conditions vary dramatically throughout the year. The good news is that the Craftsman M105 gas powered mower comes with a choice of six cutting heights ranging between 1.25 inches and 3.75 inches, which is pretty versatile, even if the lowest can be a little long for some.
The only real downside, and I use the term lightly, is that you don’t get a single lever adjustment which is something you see on a lot of mowers these days. This one features two height adjustment levers making the process ever so slightly more complicated, but not so much that even a novice wouldn’t be able to figure it out. Some like the fact that the front and rear height adjustments are separate as it will allow greater control when cutting dense and unkept lawns.
Mowing Features
The beauty of the Craftsman M105 is that it comes with options. You can choose to purchase it with or without a bagger. If you’re not going to use this feature then you might make use of the side or rear discharge chutes, which provide you with a convenient way of expelling the clippings out of the way of the mower’s path.
Alternatively, you might use the mulching feature, which is great if you want a way of naturally fertilizing your lawn. The clippings will be circulated around the cutting deck and chopped into very fine pieces. They are then dropped back onto the grass, getting right down to the roots and offer important nutrients like nitrogen.
Practicalities
The wheels on the Craftsman M105 are much smaller, especially at the front that I’d typically like to see on this type of equipment. You might find that, because of this design aspect, you lose a lot of maneuverability when working on uneven terrain or in damp conditions. However, the wheels do feature zag tread which improves traction and stability, so there’s both pros and cons to this feature.
What I really like about the Craftsman M105 gas powered mower is that it comes with a generous two year warranty. In reality, I don’t think you’re going to need it because these mowers are super reliable and well made, but it’s still nice to have that peace of mind.

Should You Buy This Model – Verdict

I think that this is an excellent choice for people who are just getting into gas mowers. If you’re moving over from electric or cordless, you might find the idea of using this type of equipment a little intimidating. But the Craftsman M105 makes it easy. It’s a simple and reliable machine that offers excellent performance and is comfortable to use. There’s not much to complain about.
However, while it is made for yards up to ¼ acre, you might find it difficult to get around the entire lawn if you don’t have much strength or stamina, because this isn’t a self-propelled model and the wheels are on the smaller side.
Conclusion
I have been very impressed by the Craftsman M105, which, if I’m honest, I knew that I would be. This brand is known for its quality tools, so I wasn’t at all surprised when I found out how reliable, powerful, and efficient this mower is. It’s got a good range of features that make it ideal for domestic use or people who are just getting used to gas power. What’s more, it doesn’t come with a ridiculously high price tag, so you can afford to treat yourself.
