Finding the right mower for lawn can be difficult, especially if you’re looking at robotic models. There are loads of options and they all have so many features that you need to consider, but that’s where I come in.
Just like what I have done for small and medium sized gardens, in this post I’ll be showing you my favourite models for lawns between 1000 – 2000m² in size. If you have a lawn as big as this then please consider these models before anything else!
Of course they are a little different from one another in how they operate and the kinds of features they offer so I’ll explain which type of person and garden suits each model and from that you should be able to pick the one that is best for you. But if you’re still unsure then just leave me a question below in the comments and I’ll do my best to help you out!
Model # 1 – Husqvarna 315
With a big lawn you’re going to need a robomower that has just about everything – great navigation, easy setup, simple user interface, a reliable and smart cutting system, and all the user features which make mowing as easy as possible. In my opinion the Husqvarna 315 model embodies pretty much perfectly for those with lawns up to 1500m², for me it just has the most effective technology on the market (as do all Husqvarna mowers). If you want to see this for yourself Husqvarna ran their “Automower Challenge” where a selected group of people tested out the mowers in their own lawns and documented the results, check them out here if you want to see them.
So the quality of the mower is assured but who exactly does it suit? With the useful user features that it has I would say that for those that want to spend as little time on lawn as possible, this is the one for you. With features such as its mobile app, weather timer and rain sensor, the 315 could just about remove you from the entire process. No need to adjust its settings according to the weather and there’s no manual work needed to adjust its mowing height, in most cases it’ll do these itself and if not you can easily do them on your phone.

Model #2 – Robomow RS615
Robomow is another big player within the robotic lawn mower market, they’ve been making robomowers for about 20 years now and with that experience they have been able to develop impressive technology which outperforms the majority of the market, the same can be said for their RS615 mower. With loads of features for you to play with and the inclusion of very smart mowing systems, this model not only makes for a full mowing coverage but is also very user friendly. You can alter its settings using your phone, it has simple operation and you can even control like a toy car, it might be childish but it’ll certainly be useful in those tight spots.
But they aren’t even the best parts. The number of features that this mower has (as well as other Robomow Models) to cope with a multitude of different and complexly shaped gardens is what I think sets it apart from the rest. With you get a multi-zone features which means it can mow more than one lawn area, it has multiple “mowing modes” which allow you to dictate how it operates and it has a feature called the “floating deck” which means its blade can move up and down along with the surface of your lawn, ensuring the bottom of any hollows will be properly mowed. So if your lawn is pretty bumpy and uniquely shaped then this mower is more suited to you.

So to sum up, if you have quick a simple, big lawn and want to let the mower take full control then I would go for the Husqvarna 315, out of all the mowers I’ve seen it’s the most effective at removing you from entire lawn mowing process. But if your lawn is a little more complex in sized, shape and terrain then I would opt for the Robomow RS615, as I said it has all features you need to cope with your style of garden.
Well those lawn mowers are just about the coolest thing I have seen. It would be nice to sit and watch the lawn mower cut the grass by itself. I have a very bad back and cutting the grass usually puts me out of commission for 2 days. Something like this would be perfect.
Yeah it totally would Laurieann, I’m glad you enjoyed the post 😉
These lawnmowers look like great cutting machines. From the videos I would say they seem to cut quite well. I am assuming there is a mulching blade on it as I do not see how you can bag the grass.
I am surprised by the area that they can cover.
So to keep your lawn looking like “it has just been cut” how often would you need to cut your grass with this type of mower?
I know you said that it has an adjustment for longer grass but how long can you let your grass grow before you can’t use this mower? Even a push mower has limits.
These mowers are designed to mow everyday Maureen so their clippings are very small and drop down to the bottom of the soil so you can’t see them, so yeah they kind of have a mulching blade. Because of this the grass shouldn’t grow too long to the point where the mower can’t cut it 😉
